Requirements: The Rogue's Den mini-game requires 50 thieving and 50 Agility to use the maze. This is a Members only mini-game.
Location: Burthorpe, basement of Toad and Chicken pub.
Introduction:
NOTE: The Rogues' Den maze mini-game is a SAFE minigame.
This area will offer you a new way to train your thieving skills. You can crack safes or try getting through the 440 traps in the maze. To get to the Rogues' Den, you can use a Games necklace to teleport to the Games Room in Burthorpe, a Bracelet of combat to teleport to the Warriors' Guild in Burthorpe, or just walk/run to Burthorpe. Goto the to the Toad and Chicken pub and enter the trapdoor in the southwest corner of the pub on the first floor.
There are also some characters here that offer various services:
Brian O'Richard - Speak to him to get a Mystic jewel to allow you to go through the maze. At any time in the maze if you want to leave, click the gem and it will give you the option to leave.
Emerald Benedict - Banker. You can access your bank from here.
Martin Thwait - He has a shop where you can buy certain items for a cheap price.
Rogues' Den Maze
There are no level requirements to enter the Rogues' Den itself, but you need at least 50 Agility and 50 Thieving in order to start the Rogues' Den maze. 80 Thieving is required to be able to use all the shortcuts in the maze. You may not take any items except for the Mystic jewel given to you by Brian O'Richard.
After getting the gem, go up to the doorway and open it. (It looks like a grill.)
About two steps in front of you, right click on the things on the floor and select "search". You will walk on top of them after you do that, just keep going. WATCH OUT FOR THE BLADE. (Note: That as you disable traps and go through obstacles, you lose thieving and agility points, which are returned when you leave the maze).
Now, go up to the contortion bars to the left of where you were. Go through those, then go a bit farther. You will now be at a pendulum. I prefer the right, so walk on the right side, and you will automatically go past it.
Now, there is a patch of traps. The easiest way is to walk around the edge, then keep going straight until you walk into a square of what looks like mushrooms. Then take 1 step to the side, and go up through the grill.
Go up to the corpse, and go a few steps past that. Watch out! There's a trap. Right click on the wall, and select "search". If you can see in the back of the picture, that is what happens when you don't search. You get hit by some logs and have to restart.
There's another patch of traps here. Go through the middle, disarming each one.
Now go up a couple of steps, and there's another floor trap. Now go one more space, and in front of that is another trap. Disarm that just like the first.
Go up. There are two methods of crossing.
A. Searching the walls on the left side, and going past.
B. Crossing the ledge on the right side, and going past.
Now go up a bit farther, and you'll see two paths. I've only taken the curvy one, so take that. (The curvy one is the one to the right. There's no traps here.)
After you go up the curvy thing, you'll come up to some blades. Just walk over them and you'll pass.
Go diagonal from this (to the right side) and you'll come to some swinging pendulums. Just walk by and you'll pass, like the blades. After that go and cross the ledge that's near the pendulums.
Now go further down the next curvy path, and you'll come to another patch of traps. You can either Search the traps on the walls or Search the traps on the floor.
Now, go up a bit, and go left, then up the path. You should come to a passage way. Go through it.
There is another saw to cross. Cross it just like normal, click to walk on the other side and you'll pass it. Keep running north. You'll come to another passageway. Go through
Now go up, and go to the right until you come to a curved path to go on. This path is right next to a big white circle on the minimap. Note: It is not necessary for you to go through that way. In fact, it's ill-advised. The point of the maze is to save as many thieving levels as you can, and going that way lowers your thieving greatly. Instead, going east will prove much better for that.
Now along this path, there are several traps. You can recognize them because they look like little spikes sticking out of the wall. Right click+search each of them in the order that they are there. If you don't, one will catch you and you must restart.
After you pass the traps, you will come to a dead end of corpses. Go through the passageway next to them.Open the grills after you exit the passageway.Go up a bit until you see the spinning blades. BE CAREFUL TO NOT GO NEAR THEM, OR YOU WILL BE FORCED TO RESTART. Simply walk around them.
Now, climb the ledge that's past the spinning blades.
Past the ledges, there are wall traps. Right click and search them to get past.
After you disarm the wall traps, you will approach a patch of spinning blades. I went across the center one, it seemed to be the easiest. Do not attempt to go around, I am not sure what happens.
Keep walking until you get to the next room. There will be 4 red dots on your minimap. Take the tile that is shown in the picture, then keep going until you reach a door. Be careful, there is sometimes a floor trap under it. Just to be safe, disarm that first.
Now click "open" on the door, and it will bring you to a puzzle. Just click the one piece that you have (look at my picture). And it will say "a perfect match!" The door will vanish, you'll walk through, and it will reappear. If you took more than the one tile that I said to take, drop them all, and take the one that I took, and open the door again.
Moving on.. now, there is a grill-maze. In the picture, you can see the correct path to take. Up door, left, left door, Down, left door, up, left door, up, up door, right, down door, right door, up door.
Keep going straight, there are no traps. Now turn right. There's another path, but I haven't gone down there. Just stick with the path that I'm showing you.
Go up a bit until the path gets narrow. Then there are wall traps. After you pass the wall traps, go up and through the next grill. There are no traps between where you were and the grill. Now there are floor tiles. Right click and search the 3 middle ones to get across.
Now go through the next grill, and do the same thing in the next room.Right click and search the 3 in the middle to get across.
Now go through the pendulum just like the rest. Click on the other side and you'll cross automatically.
Continue on. Be careful though, there is a floor trap in the doorway.
There are two paths. It does not matter which one you take. One has floor/wall traps, the other has floor tile traps.Keep going. Do not go through the grills! Go north, instead. ( I have no clue where the grills lead to).
Now you'll come to an area with spinning blades+pressure tiles. You WANT to go around the blades and walk beside one of the walls, as again going through the center will lower thieving, while going beside a wall you will only encounter two agility traps, which are passed just like the buzzsaw and pendulums.
Keep going along the path. Look at my picture as to where you should stop before entering.
Now, run in and get the red dot to the LEFT and run back to the spot where you stopped before. This is the part where there are 2 rogue guards. The red dot that you pick up is 5 flash powders. Now zoom your screen in and try to see a guard from a distance. Use the powder on him, and run past him. It doesn't matter which path you go on, as long as it's the same path the guard was guarding.
Now you'll come up to two swinging pendulums. Go past these like usual. (Just click to walk past them).
Congratulations! You've reached the center of the maze.
Now, disable the floor trap in front of one of the vaults (wall safe) and try to crack the safe. You will either fail and be sent to the beginning, or get a nice piece of rogue armor.
Rogue Kit: Stackable. Can turn into either a spade, rope, chisel, or tinderbox.
(Full) Rogue armour has 26 on every defence stat. +26 def, +26 crush, +26 slash, +26 stab, +26 magic, and +26 range.
Notes
As you go through the traps, it takes levels off of your agility and thieving, depending on which kind of trap it is. If you get to zero, you will have to restart. I advise having at least 50 agility and 50 thieving (required) before starting. 55 of each to be safe, the higher the better : )
Your stats will restore, but VERY slowly. Prayer does not work inside The Rogue's Den, as it's drained on entering; you may only bring in the mystic gem that Brian O'Richard gives you, and nothing else.
You will NOT be dealt damage in the maze.
Vaults give gems up to diamonds, 20 coins, half keys (not verified yet), and when using a stethoscope, the coin amounts can be, but are not limited to, 20, 30 or 40.
If they have 80 thieving you should use the shortcuts because maze time is cut down to 2 min to get through it
You don't need a stethoscope to pick a vault, but it does improve pick ratio slightly, and give slightly better loot.
